I had my first summer student. Sadie is going to be starting her junior year at Augsburg and hopefully this is just the start of her career in Space Physics. It was such a great experience working with her. We were able to get some fantastic results and hopefully we'll get a paper published soon with some of the results that she has found. I'm hoping that she'll be able to bring back the tools she learned here to Augsburg to facilitate more collaborations between the two groups. We have a lot of great potential for some wonderful collaborations!
Now though it's time to start looking forward to the fall. First up on the plate is organizing our AGU session. I can't believe how many abstracts we received. Thank you all for submitting to our session! It promises to be amazing. We have some wonderful invited talks, and lots of great submitted abstracts. Unfortunately we won't be able to give everyone a talk, but I promise that the poster session will be filled with lively discussions! Both Drew and I will be down in the poster hall sharing our research to keep everyone company. I'm sure Matina will also make an appearance, but she was asked to give an invited talk in another session, so we'll wish her luck, and hope that it's scheduled at a different time than our poster session.
Of course there is more than just AGU to prepare for this fall. There is a great LWS conference this November, the end of the planned mission of the Van Allen Probes, decisions to be made about the next possible BARREL mission, grants to apply to, jobs to apply for, and the list goes on and on. Speaking of which, I should probably get back to work.
